Missionary Obligation

To some, verses Mathew 28:18-20 have been deemed as Jesus ' commandment on Earth as it implicate the importance of his last and final call to mission. This was not an isolated command during His rapture but a consistent message capturing the cores of His life work in ministry and his teachings, parallel to the Old Testament.

As in examples of Genesis 12:3 where it reads, ¡° I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you. ¡± And also, in Isaiah 49:6, which reads ¡° It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth. ¡±¡¦ these words clearly identifies the connection to this Missionary Obligation.

Jesus ' disciples understood these words and made applications in their own ministries throughout.

The Apostle Peter likened the deliverance of Israel from Egypt as a reaffirmation of God ' s promise to His commitment to expand His kingdom though Abraham ' s seed (1 Peter 2:9-10), as it laid the foundations for the gospel to spread to other nations.

During the trials in Caesarea, Apostle Paul defended his position by emphasizing these words as the reason for his actions ¡¦ . ¡° And now it is because of my hope in what God has promised our fathers that I am on trial today (Acts 26:6), ¡± and ¡° So then, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the vision from heaven (Acts 26:19). ¡±

This is also in aligns with Apostle Paul ' understanding and his submission of the Marvelous Vision of God that through Jesus Christ, salvation not only belonged to the Jews, but for all mankind. When Festus condemned Apostle Paul and called him fanatical, Paul responded with clarity and declared the necessities of world salvation through true gospel and Missionary obligations. Despite the weakening and diminishing of this Missionary Obligations through out the Christian history, this obligation is steadfast and unchanging responsibility for all churches to carry out until Jesus ' return.
